Minister of the Interior Liese Prokop opens Global Security
Forum in Vienna on July 6th
142 high-profile delegates gathered
in Vienna as the global summit on he holistic approach
to security opened its doors for the first time, in
the presence of the Austrian Minister of the Interior
Milan, June 28th, 2006 - With the endorsement
of the Austrian Federal Minister of the Interior and
the European Commission, Wise Media’s Global Security
Forum made its highly anticipated debut on July 6th
and 7th in Vienna, welcoming an array of world-class
panelists to discuss the new security threats our world
faces and the technologies that can help protect our
society’s most valuable assets: people, property and
know-how.
The audience comprised of government representatives,
high caliber corporate and public security officers,
and industry experts from around the globe. Liese Prokop,
Austrian Federal Minister of the Interior, opened the
event by presenting the new Austrian electronic passport
and discussing the double paradigm shift that Austria,
as well as other nations, are now facing: the transition
to digitalized documents and the move from the decentralized
to the centralized issuance of passports. The two-day
conference program also included presentations from
the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior, the French
Ministry of the Interior, as well as the German Ministry
of the Interior and the European Commission, various
port authorities and Privacy Officers advising governments
and corporate organizations with discussions focusing
on technology shifts in the border control and corporate
access control fields.
The valuable discussions that took place in Vienna will
be taken up again at the Global Security Forum conference
at the ID
WORLD International Congress, the annual world summit
on automatic identification, in Milan on November 28-30,
2006.
